Born in Ukraine in 1978, Lena Gomon is a photographer who currently lives and works in Ashdod.
Gomon has a B.F.A. in Photography (cum laude) and an M.F.A. in Photography and Fine Arts, both from the Bezalel Academy of Arts and Design.
“Gomon's work is anchored in the Israeli photographic tradition, and, to a great extent, constitutes an evolutionary continuation of photography of the local landscape and space as a cultural-political-social representation that was formulated in Israel in recent decades. Her works are characterized by a delicate dialectic between severity and constructed rigor, and almost fragile refinement and sensitivity, between a sharp and well-articulated look and a conscious avoidance of taking a critical stance on the photographed reality.
This unique quality makes Gomon's work a kind of cumulative and ongoing study of a collection of particles out of reality, in a way that does not purport to encompass, generalize, infer or interpret, but only to capture the traces of the constant and ceaseless movement of the human presence in the world.”
